Correct and scientific use of soil and water resources with the use of new scientific techniques is one of the most basic ways to improve the quality and increase agricultural production. Fortunately, along with other industrial, economic and social developments of the country, extensive measures have been taken in the field of development and scientificization of agriculture during the past years. In this regard, according to the increasing trend of population in the world, different countries have taken action to establish research, educational and promotional institutions and centers in various soil and water issues and have allocated a significant share of their gross national income to this cause.

In Iran, with the establishment of the Institute of Soil Science and Fertility and the establishment of Departments of Soil Science and Soil Fertility (former) in different provinces of the country, it is a fundamental step in studying and researching in various fields, such as basic utilization of soil resources, management of optimal use of water resources, identification Land classification and optimal use of different chemical fertilizers in order to increase quantitative yield and improve the quality of agricultural and garden crops have been removed.
Of course, the Department of Soil and Water Research in Kermanshah (the former Department of Soil Science and Soil Fertility) is not an exception to this, and since its establishment until now (from 1967 onwards), research projects in the field of plant nutrition (amount, method and time of using chemical fertilizers), Land classification and appropriateness, determining the water requirement of strategic crops of the province, the effect of distance, depth, amount and irrigation water and the stress caused by insufficient irrigation in different stages of plant growth and different irrigation methods on agricultural and garden crops and has been found favorable results.

Trusting in God, this department will prioritize its research in the future, as in previous years, based on the problems and obstacles in the way of farmers in order to increase performance and improve quality and provide appropriate solutions for the optimal use of water, soil, fertilizer and management resources. Duties
1) Conducting research in the field of: issues related to soil and water in order to identify and classify soils and evaluate land, soil fertility and plant nutrition, review and determine scientific and economic methods of utilizing soil and water resources in the field of agricultural products production and coordinating these activities with other research programs
2) monitoring and monitoring the quality of fertilizers in the center of production, maintenance and supply of fertilizers
