Kermanshah Urban Garden Research Base is located at 47 degrees 4 minutes east longitude 34 degrees 15 minutes 4 seconds north latitude with an altitude of 1320 meters above sea level in the city of Kermanshah with an area of nearly 7 hectares.
Heavy soil texture (silty-clay), soil reaction (pH) between 7.5 and 7.6, electrical conductivity of saturated flower extract from 0.58 to 0.59 decisimum/m, organic carbon from about 1.11 to 1.42 The percentage of soil lime varies between 34 and 34.5 percent. The said station has a 120-meter deep well with a flow rate of 7 liters per second and very low salinity.
4 hectares of the land of the said station are cultivated with 120 varieties of commercial cultivars and native genotypes of cold climate fruit trees in the form of a mother garden. This garden has 13 tree and garden species of commercial fruit cultivars, including plums (15 numbers and 1 genotype), apricots (11 numbers and 5 genotypes), peaches (22 varieties and 10 genotypes), nectarines (13 varieties and 8 genotypes), cherries (7 cultivar and 1 genotype), Magari cherry (3 cultivars), apple (18 cultivars), pear (6 cultivars), be (1 cultivar), grape (17 cultivars and 39 genotypes), pistachio (9 cultivars and 2 genotypes), walnut (3 varieties and 5 genotypes), almonds (12 varieties) and the base of 2 varieties. From 2014 to 2022, this collection has provided 218,000 seedlings (grafts) of high-quality and original cultivars to the nurseries of the province. And several research projects on apples, grapes, peaches and medicinal plants have been implemented in it.
