The Genetic Research and Horticultural Heritage Resources unit is one of the horticultural research units of this center, which is responsible for applied research, preservation of horticultural genetic resources for use in improvement breeding programs, conducting research in order to obtain improved cultivars and bases of horticultural plants, promoted extension and Findings of research transfer.
The focus of the research activities of the horticultural research unit of this center is mainly on olives, stone fruits (peach and nectarine), figs and pecans. These activities have led to the introduction of new varieties of olives called Deira, Mashkat, Avan and Zagros.
