The Grain Research Unit is responsible for management, planning, implementation and supervision of breeding research, agronomy research, diseases of bread wheat and durum wheat, and the production of breeding seeds of water  wheat needed by the province.

The activities of this research unit in recent years has been. led to the introduction of new varieties of bread wheat (Hiran, Torabi, Pishgam, Danesh, Farin, Amin, Baharan, Heydari, Talai, etc.) and durum wheat (Sana, Hana, Shabarang, Behrang and Taban).
In recent years, the production of bread and durum wheat seed kernels is one of the great responsibilities that have been well performed by the grain research unit of this center, and for this reason, there has been no shortage of wheat seeds in the province in recent years. Sometimes it has provided the seed needs of other provinces.
