Oilseeds Research Unit
The country's heavy dependence on the import of oil and flour from abroad, as well as the importance of these products in human and livestock nutrition, has led to special attention to oilseeds and their research in recent years.
The research activities of this unit are mainly focused on the breeding and agronomy of oilseeds, especially rapeseed and sunflower. The activities of this research unit in the field of rapeseed improvement have led to the introduction of new rapeseed cultivars named Nilofer, Nima, Nafis, Aram, Asa and Roshana. New sunflower hybrids with the names Golsa, Zareen and Shams have also been produced and introduced in collaboration with the oilseeds unit of this center and  Seed and Plant Improvement Institute
