About Us
The research department of soil protection and watershed management was established in 1991 and it was a sub-category of the research and training department of jihad Sazandegi. At first, this department started its work with two experts and gradually expanded its activity by attracting more researchers and technicians and drivers. From 1997 onwards, the researchers of the department succeeded in receiving the membership of the scientific research board. Currently, due to the retirement and transfer of part of the forces, it only has three academic staff members.

Duties
The duties of the soil protection and watershed research department are to implement research plans and projects and other services that are being carried out at the province level. The most important of these axes are as follows:

- Conducting research in order to deal with or adapt to climate change through harvesting surface runoff, improving tillage, controlling soil erosion, preserving and strengthening vegetation;
- Evaluation of the watershed management measures carried out to fulfill the goals of their construction;
- Evaluation and verification of methods and models for estimation of erosion and sedimentation;
- Serious attention to approaches to empower local communities for sustainable use of watershed resources and improve their livelihoods, including attention to the potential of ecotourism on a local scale, indigenous knowledge, and collaborative solutions;
- Efforts and significant activity in the specialized committees and councils of the research center of the province;
- Activities in the field of realizing the goals and policies of the education and research organization, such as the new system of agricultural extension and natural resources;
- Significant activity in educational affairs (educational courses within the organization and at the university level);
- Active participation in holding related conferences;
- Membership in specialized committees outside the center, including academic jihad, general administration of natural resources, and agricultural and natural resources engineering system.
