About US
The forest and rangeland research department is compatible with the existing research departments in the country's forest and rangeland research institute based on priorities, scientific-specialist power and available facilities in the fields of forest, rangeland, botany, medicinal plants, fir and fast-growing trees, plant gene bank and Cytogenetic prepares and implements research projects and presents and publishes their results.
Currently, this department has 3 academic members and 3 non-academic members (senior experts) with expertise in the fields of forestry, genetics, wood industries, and botany, with the implementation of 40 research projects in the fields of evaluation of pasture cultivars, poplar, revitalization of oak forests, investigation The habitat needs of important forest species, cytogenetics of pasture species, investigation of the habitat needs of pasture species, botany and medicinal plants are active. So far, in this department, in addition to the final reports of more than 50 research projects, more than 200 scientific articles have been published in national and international meetings or in prestigious scientific-research journals.
History
The forest and rangeland research department has started its activity since 1365 under the title of forest and rangeland research department. From the beginning, this department was directly affiliated with the Research Institute of Forests and Ranges and started research activities in the field of natural resources of Kermanshah and Ilam provinces with a small number of experts and technicians. Since 1370, after the separation of the duties of the Ministries of Sazandegi Jihad from the Ministry of Agriculture and the establishment of provincial natural resources and livestock affairs research centers, this department, as one of the departments of the Kermanshah Province Natural Resources and Livestock Affairs Research Center, has expanded its activities at the level The province continued. After that, research projects were prepared and implemented by recruiting experts in fields related to natural resources in the fields of forest, pasture, fir and botany. Since 1382, with the merger of the Ministries of Sazandegi Jihad and Agriculture and the merger of research centers, this department has continued its research activity as one of the departments of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Research Center of Kermanshah province.

Introduction
The herbarium of Kermanshah Agriculture and Natural Resources Research and Education Center has been registered with the RANK ID in international forums and the list of world herbariums.
The collection of plant samples of Kermanshah province started in 1368 by engineer Mohammad Fatahiand subsequently, the plan to collect and identify plant samples of the province was carried out.
Duties
In fact, herbarium is a kind of museum that can be used as a raw information bank. Each plant sample contains information about the habitat, the characteristics of the plant at the time of collection and the taxonomy to which it belongs, as well as other information recorded on its label. In the herbarium, in addition to dry pressed plants, there are all relevant documents such as floras and botanical books, manuscripts, photographs, photomicrographs, printed and unpublished reports, drawings, etc. Herbariums are considered one of the most reliable and principled research centers in the field of plant diversity in any country. In other words, herbarium is a permanent treasure of plant samples of a region and the best source of information about its plants. Considering that the samples in a herbarium usually include a collection of samples collected from different places and by different people at different times, they contain useful information about the biodiversity of plants in that area. Researchers of various sciences, especially botanists, will be able to observe the results of the work of other researchers without conducting field studies, and use their information, or complete and correct them, by using the samples of authentic herbariums.
